Avg not updating general error

The user can update this software; however, the update process may fail and it may show an error message such as, connection with update server failed.There are three options to solve this issue with AVG Free.I'm so glad I didn't pay them a dime lol Hopefully they'll fix this error really soon. Even after attempting to update without using updates.

Some users have found that it was necessary to restart twice or even completely shut the system down & power up again. We always recommend temporarily disabling before installing....& restart the computer twice before re-enabling. We can only think it may have been part of the Pro version of the product and the FAQ wasn't updated for the Free version... (To clarify what's what - - alert manager).... If you still have Windows Security Center issue....

If a repair does not work your best bet is to do a complete uninstall, then reinstall the program.

I am encountering this same error, I have tried to clear my temporary update data, a repair and two fresh installs, nothing has helped. Any help would be appreciated, I don't want to switch to a different AV program if I don't have to.

Allowed 8 free to do the uninstall of 7.5 Have since uninstalled/ repaired a few times but still the update refuses to work Update server shown as Downloaded updates to disk then updated from there. Windows XP fully updated Using AVG 8 Free version 8.0.100 Database 269.23.7/1410 2 Mb Broadband connection via cable from in UK Windows XP firewall off. you can at least get back to "now" if it doesn't work.

Problem persists You didn't provide us all the information that we need to help you. sec=thread&act=show&id=371, provide all of the information mentioned in that post so that we may help you properly. Ashampoo firewall used normally but it makes no difference if switched off. I also have another method to get back to the AVG 7.5 and uninstall etc ...
